The Mendota fireplace brand is owned by Johnson Gas Appliance Co in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Johnson Gas Appliance Company has been in business since 1901 and does business with 4 main divisions. These are the Industrial Furnaces Division, Concrete Curing Division, Even Temp Inc., and the Mendota Hearth Division. Since the company has experience in making industrial furnaces and in fabrication, Johnson Gas has developed the expertise to make good fireplaces.
The Mendota brand features several gas powered fireplaces and stoves. The company doesn't offer an extensive line, but the products that they have are contemporary and look good. In addition, the company has two sizes of fireplace inserts that are designed to fit most fireplaces. Mendota also makes fireplace screens, doors, and several other fireplace accessories.
The Mendota brand does have a pretty good dealer network. There are multiple dealers in almost all of the 50 states. In addition, the company does have good dealer coverage in some of the more populous areas. These dealers are available to perform warranty service or to do installations.
The Mendota fireplace warranty is pretty standard. There is a basic warranty of 1 year on the fireplace and all of the parts. There is also a limited lifetime warranty that covers key parts of the fireplace. The parts covered under this limited lifetime warranty include the heat exchanger, the burner tube, the combustion chamber, the logs, and the outer shield of the fireplace. The one drawback to the warranty is that there is no allowance time allowance for parts and services from the dealer for the warranty support. There are a lot other manufacturers that do this as well.
